Must-Do: Sunset Dune Dinner Safari by Arabian Adventures

If your arm is being twisted and you are told you could participate in only one fun activity while you're in Dubai, this is the activity. You may not know it, but the Sunset Dune Dinner Safari by Arabian Adventures is the reason you came to Dubai.

This magnificent journey into the desert starts when your driver for the safari picks you up at your hotel in a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Each vehicle holds up to six guests. As we made our way to the desert, our driver Faheem pointed out landmarks and shared a wealth of knowledge about the city, its culture, traditions, wildlife and a variety of other interesting topics.

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted with bottled water and soft drinks, and treated to a breath-taking display of camels and free-roaming wildlife. Then, gather for a falcon show, where you will learn fascinating details about the life and habits of these very clever birds.

Once the falcon show is over, guests head back to their assigned vehicles to enjoy an exhilarating ride thru the sand dunes in the middle of the desert. The ride concludes just in time for everyone to gather and watch the sun set over the picturesque dunes. Then it's time to head to the camp, where guests can take advantage of complimentary camel rides and enjoy sand boarding down the dunes.

Once you've had your fill, head into the camp itself, where you'll be greeted first with a damp hand towel to freshen up, followed by a traditional Arabic treat of dates and traditional Arabian coffee (which is light brown in colour).

Inside the camp, there were loads of activities to enjoy before dinner. Visitors can purchase customized souvenirs, get complimentary henna tattoos, take photos dressed in traditional Arabic garb and more.

Before you know it, it's time to eat. Guests will enjoy starters before partaking in a delicious BBQ buffet dinner. They typically serve beef, chicken and lamb with a delightful array of side dishes and fresh veggies and salads, but the menu can vary. After dinner, Arabian sweets are served while guests are treated to a belly dance show.

Once dinner has concluded, head over to the cozy sitting area of the camp to enjoy the shishas and casual chat with employees and other guests. Shisha and friendly conversation are the perfect way to cap off a splendid adventure before your driver delivers you safely back to your hotel.

This activity can be purchased to include or exclude beer and wine. Talk to your concierge or vacation planner for details.

Length of Activity: Approximate four hours (not including transportation)

  1. This sounds amazing!! I have a friend who frequently travels to Dubai and I've always wanted to go myself. I feel like every picture I see of it is just gorgeous. This activity sounds particularly exciting! I'm putting it on my remind list for when I make it to Dubai. Great post!
